About the Journal

Submission Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to the Revue d’économie industrielle must be original research that has not been previously published and must not be under review by another journal at the same time.

Peer Review Process

Each submitted manuscript is assigned to a member of the Editorial Board, who determines whether the manuscript should be sent for review. Decisions to reject a manuscript without external review are made in consultation with the editorial board.

If the manuscript is deemed suitable for possible publication, the assigned editor appoints two referees and sends them an anonymous version of the paper. The editor oversees the entire review process, including follow-up with referees, requests for revised versions following referees’ reports, and the final publication or rejection decision. Revised manuscripts, together with the authors’ responses to reviewers’ comments, are systematically resubmitted to the referees for further assessment.

Acceptance of an article for publication entails the automatic transfer of copyright to the Journal, which, in return, undertakes to ensure the widest possible dissemination of the published work.

Policy on Special Issues

The Revue d’économie industrielle welcomes proposals for special issues devoted to topics falling within its scientific scope and of particular interest to its readership.

Proposals should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief at the following address: thierry.penard@univ-rennes.fr

The proposal dossier should include:

  • the title of the special issue;
  • a concise presentation of the topic, its scientific relevance, and its fit with the journal’s editorial policy;
  • the name, affiliation, and contact details of the proposed guest editor(s);
  • a preliminary list of contributions, including for each paper a title, a brief abstract, and the names of the potential authors;
  • information regarding any scientific event associated with the project (workshop, conference, symposium, seminar, etc.), whether already held or forthcoming, together with a brief description;
  • a provisional timetable for the completion of the special issue.

Special issue proposals are evaluated by the Editorial Board on the basis of their scientific relevance, overall coherence, and consistency with the journal’s editorial policy.

If a proposal is approved by the Editorial Board, an open call for papers will be issued in order to attract additional submissions.

All articles selected for inclusion in a special issue are subject to the journal’s standard peer-review procedure. Inclusion in the special issue proposal does not imply acceptance for publication. Each contribution is evaluated according to the journal’s scientific and editorial standards.

When a special issue is coordinated by one or more guest editors who are not members of the Editorial Board, a member of the Board will be appointed to oversee the project and ensure the proper conduct of the review and selection process.

Statement on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies

Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies can help researchers work more efficiently, obtain key information quickly, and improve research outputs. Authors preparing manuscripts for the Revue d’économie industrielle may use AI tools to assist them. However, such tools must never replace critical thinking, human expertise, or scholarly judgment. Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for the content of their work.

This responsibility includes:

  • Carefully reviewing and checking the accuracy, completeness, and impartiality of all AI-generated outputs.
  • Ensuring that all references and citations are authentic and accurate, as AI tools may generate fictitious or erroneous sources.
  • Thoroughly writing, revising, and adapting all content to ensure that the manuscript represents the author's genuine and original contribution and reflects the author's own analysis, interpretation, and ideas.
  • Not using generative AI to create or modify figures, graphs, images, or tables, except when such materials are themselves the object of the research, in which case their production must be explicitly described and justified.
  • Ensuring that the manuscript is prepared in a manner that protects intellectual property rights and other legal rights, including by reviewing the terms and conditions of any AI tool used.
  • Not entering personal, confidential, embargoed, or third-party data into AI systems, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and any commitments made to data providers.
  • Not listing or citing AI tools as authors or co-authors, since authorship entails responsibilities and tasks that can only be assumed and carried out by human beings.
  • Ensuring that the use of any tool or source, whether AI-based or not, is clearly disclosed and transparent to readers. If AI tools have been used, a disclosure statement is required upon submission.

When generative AI is used not merely as a writing aid but as a research tool itself (e.g., for data collection, extraction, processing, coding, econometric analysis, text classification, or literature review), its use must be described in the methodology section of the article with sufficient detail to ensure transparency and reproducibility, including the name of the tool, version number, date of use, and, where appropriate, prompts or parameters employed.

The use of AI tools during manuscript preparation must be disclosed systematically and mandatorily by including a statement at the end of the manuscript upon first submission to the journal. This statement should appear immediately before the references section under the heading: Statement on the Use of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Conduct of this Research

This disclosure requirement applies throughout the editorial process. Any subsequent use of AI, including during manuscript revision, must also be reported and described.

Example of disclosure statement: "During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [PURPOSE]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and revised the content and take full responsibility for the content of the published article. The version of the tool and the date of use will be specified whenever possible."

This disclosure requirement does not apply to basic tools used for grammar, spelling, or reference checking. However, machine translation of all or part of a manuscript using an AI tool does not fall within this exception and must be disclosed.

If no AI has been used at any stage of the research or manuscript preparation process, authors should include the following statement:

"The author(s) of this article hereby certify that no form of artificial intelligence was used in any manner during the preparation of this work."

Failure to disclose a substantial use of AI, or the submission of inaccurate disclosure statements, may be treated in accordance with the journal’s research integrity policy and may result, where appropriate, in a correction or retraction.

Use of AI by Editors and Reviewers

Reviewers and members of the Editorial Board must not upload a manuscript, its abstract, or any unpublished material to a public generative AI system, as doing so would compromise the confidentiality of submitted work and the rights of authors.

The scientific judgment expressed in a review report is a human responsibility and may not be delegated to an AI tool. Any use of AI in the review process must be authorized in advance by the editorial team and fully disclosed.
